Marcel Braithwaite looks set for a title shot in the near future.

The 25-year-old got back to winning ways last time out and was hoping to build on that sooner rather than later having been given a return date.

Braithwaite suffered his first reverse in the paid code at the Eventim Olympia last September before coming back at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and outpointing Jake Pollard in May.

And after advancing his record to 8-1, ‘The Chosen One’ was meant to fight in Gateshead earlier this month, though unforeseen circumstances meant that he would not fight on the card.

But the British Boxing Board of Control has revealed in its latest round of notices that the Golden Gloves-trained man is in line to challenge Craig Derbyshire for the English title at super-flyweight.

His promoter, Steve Wood, is said to be promoting a show at Doncaster Racecourse on a date to be confirmed in October that the fight will be added to, but further details will be disclosed in due course.

Meanwhile, Sam O’Maison will defend his English super-lightweight title in an official eliminator for the British title against Kayamba Prospere on September 7 at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, which is the same card as the vacant English cruiserweight title showdown between Deion Jumah and Wadi Camacho.

Frank Warren will stage Michael Ramabeletsa’s English super-bantamweight title defence against Jack Bateson at a venue in Leeds on a date to be advised, while he is also set to put on Dec Spelman’s English light-heavyweight title defence against Shakan Pitters on September 27 at York Hall.

Muheeb Fazeldin will meet Josh Kennedy on September 21 at York Hall in an official eliminator for Ramabeleta’s belt, Myron Mills will defend his English lightweight title against Kane Baker on September 29 at the Hermitage Leisure Centre in Whitwick and promoter Lee Eaton will stage an English super-lightweight title eliminator between Mikey Sakyi and Harlem Eubank at a venue to be confirmed on November 4.

Mickey Ellison is set to face Charlie Schofield in an eliminator for the English super-middleweight title on September 28 at the Bolton Whites Hotel with Jack Flatley –– who has been ordered to defend his super-welterweight belt against Joe Pigford by the end of November –– on the same card alongside James Moorcroft vs. Andy Kremner in an official eliminator for Ekow Essuman’s welterweight title.

Essuman, for what it’s worth, must defend his belt by the end of November 2019 against Curtis Felix.

And the BBBofC Celtic championship circular revealed that Monty Ogilvie and Nathaniel Collins will contest the vacant featherweight title on October 5 at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, Scotland.
