Caguas, Puerto Rico native Jose Miguel Cotto, has had some time to reflect on Saturday's loss to Saul Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Cotto was knocked out for the first time in his career.

"I went and did my job. The weight did not favor me, but I am very satisfied. I hit him good shots and I had my moments. Now I will rest and wait to see what's going to be my next fight," Cotto said.

Cotto lost to Alvarez in a fight that took place in the welterweight division and it ended in the ninth round. The 32-year-old admitted it was wrong to have fought in a division that high, although he emphasized the setback in his career does not prevent him in moving forward in his goal of achieving a world title win.

"The weight factor was what hurt us in the fight. Jose was able to show courage and great boxing. He showed that in his division, he would have the skills to dominate," said trainer Joe Santiago.

Mr. Gabriel Peñagaricano, adviser to Miguel Cotto Promotions, Inc., revealed that Jose signed with Golden Boy Promotions and the company has plans for him at 140-pounds.

"Jose has a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions and soon we'll see him in action in his division [140-pounds]. Richard Schaefer (CEO of Golden Boy Promotions) told me that Jose looked good and he has big plans for him at the weight," said Peñagaricano, who said Jose "sent a clear message that he is a very dangerous fighter in his own division."
