Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna (31-5-1) will return to the ring on August 20th for the first time in a year when he faces an opponent to be determined at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. In addition to the fighting in the main event, he will also promote the show.

After being stopped by Erislandy Lara in the 1st round of their May 21, 2021 title bout, LaManna picked up a quick knockout win over Félix Bojórquez in August in Mexico.

However, depression soon set in for the New Jersey native and he ballooned up in weight and didn’t plan on returning to the ring.

“I am just glad to be back, man. I don’t really have any ifs, ands, or buts about the fight.  I am just looking to get back. I am happy that I am in a better mental state and that in due time I will be back to where I belong. I am looking to maybe do a catchweight with someone maybe around 165 pounds in a 10 rounder,” Cornflake told BoxingScene.com

“In September or October I was depressed and got as high as 238 pounds so I want to get my feet wet again and get the ball rolling. I just am happy that I am out of the dark place I was at and get back to where I was at before.  That is my whole motto and what I am looking to do.”

The 30-year-old had won two fights in a row before facing Lara for the vacant WBA world middleweight title.

In addition to promoting shows in Atlantic City, LaManna also has put on events in Mexico.
