By the 4th round, Shields had landed 18 body punches, more than any previous Savannah Marshall opponent. Marshall established new career highs for punches thrown and landed in a fight, and she landed more power punches (122) and more total punches (136) than any of Shields’ previous opponents.

After Shields edged Marshall in power punches landed over the first five rounds 78 - 54, Marshall gained some ground back by edging Shields in power punches landed 78 -73 over the last five rounds.

The scores were 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93 for Shields.

Shields avenges the only loss of her boxing career, as she suffered a decision loss to Marshall in 2012 when they were amateurs.
