As part of the first Matchroom USA event to be carried on the DAZN streaming service, Puerto Rican fighter Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano (27-5-3, 10 knockouts), of Carolina will face the world lightweight champion of the IBF and WBA, Katie Taylor (9-0, 4 KOs) from Ireland, on October 6 in Chicago.

Cindy has held world championships at 126 pounds, under the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

Taylor, an Olympic gold medalist, will first have to beat Kimberly Connor at the O2 Arena in England on July 28, as part of the Dillian Whyte vs. Joseph Parker undercard. Taylor is a big favorite to win the fight.

Serrano is confident, stating that she's face much bigger fighters in her career.

Serrano has been undefeated since losing a pair of decisions to Mathis and Mikael Lauren in 2011-2012.

Since then, she's won 13 fights and had one split draw.

"I am happy for this great challenge, I know that they are underestimating me and believe that I am easy but if they look at my record, they can see that I have fought with bigger girls and I've faced them at 147 and 154 pounds when I faced Ann Sophie Mathis in France, she had a record of 24 wins and one loss with 21 knockouts and they thought that because the fight was taking place at 147 pounds and I have never fought at that weight, they were going to knock me out and it was not like that. My sister Amanda has been challenging Taylor for several months and she didn't want to fight her," said Cindy Serrano.

The Chicgao card will be headlined by a light heavyweight showdown, which is going to feature IBF world champion Artur Beterbiev making a mandatory defense against British challenger Callum Johnson.

Also expected on the card, former junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade, heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller, and former champion Jessie Vargas.
