Wasserman Boxing has acquired the rights to the Karen Chukhadzhian-Harry Scarff title eliminator.

A purse bid held Thursday from IBF headquarters saw just two participants for the ordered welterweight bout. Wasserman submitted a winning amount of $141,305, which outpaced P2M Box-Promotion ($121,121) as the only other bidder.

Per IBF purse bid terms, a ten-percent deposit ($14,130.50) was submitted upon completion of the session. Another ten percent is required along with signed agreements, date and location within five business days to validate the bid.

The winner of the forthcoming eliminator will become the mandatory challenger to IBF welterweight titlist Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (31-0, 28KOs), who is tentatively slated for a voluntary title defense in May.

Chukhadzhian (23-1, 13KOs) will now have a second chance at a major title with a win over Scarff. The 27-year-old Ukrainian contender came up well short in his interim IBF welterweight bid versus Ennis last January 6 in Washington, D.C. Two knockout wins have followed, including a ninth-round stoppage of Pietro Rossetti last November in Munich, Germany.

Scarff punched his way into contention with an upset win over previously unbeaten and prominently ranked Ekow Essuman. The battle of UK-based welterweights saw Derby’s Scarff claim a well-earned unanimous decision in their twelve-round, multi-belt regional title fight last November 18 in Manchester, England. Essuman was in position to advance in the IBF rankings, an opportunity seized by Scarff, a 30-year-old southpaw who has won five in a row.

Per IBF rule 9C, Chukhadzhian and Scarff are now required to honor the ordered title fight to avoid disciplinary action handed down by the sanctioning body. Any fighter who abandons the purse bid process or does not honor the outcome will receive a demotion in the rankings plus a six-month probation period where they cannot participate in an IBF-sanctioned fight.
