Lightweight contender Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz is preparing to face the world featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete.

During the training camp, Diaz has left the reins of his car wash business in the hands of his older brother.

The fight against Navarrete is scheduled for April 24 at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.

“Navarrete has to come well prepared. It will be a very tough fight for him and tough for me too. But I think he doesn't know the strength and hunger that I have," Diaz told Sara Hernandez.

“I am motivated, well focused. It's a 50-50 fight, competitive for both of us. I think I am the most competitive opponent that Emanuel Navarrete has had so far in his career. I've fought before against two elite boxers like Shakur Stevenson and Masayuki Ito."

Navarrete (32-1, 27 KO's) is a two-time world champion. He first reigned in the super bantamweight division (122 pounds) and now at featherweight (126 pounds), with both world titles coming from the WBO.

Diaz (26-2-16 KO's) is planning a smart strategy, based on boxing, to overtake the aggressive boxer.

“I'm going to be smarter in the ring that night. My fight plan is to try to make him fail, use my movement, and to not take so many punches in order to make a difference in the preliminary rounds," Diaz said.

“I think a lot of leg movement is going to be the key to victory that night, since Navarrete cannot fight a boxer who moves a lot on both sides - and I have that ability. It has been my best camp, I am in the best moment of my life as a person, and I think the time has come to shine."
