Puerto Rican super featherweight Christopher 'Pitufo' Diaz continued today with his work and his promotional commitments ahead of his important fight in New York on Saturday against his new opponent, Bryan Cruz, who accepted the fight on Monday after original opponent Casey Ramos fell out.

Diaz, 23 years old, will compete for the 130-pound crown of the NABO, a subsidiary of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), overten rounds in the run-up to the historic clash between the Olympic gold medalists, Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux, which will take place at the Madison Square Garden's Theater.

"I feel good and happy with the things that are coming and we are ready to show how well we are doing things," said Diaz, who has undefeated record of 21-0 and 13KO's, to Carlos Gonzalez.

A victory on Saturday over Cruz (18-2, 9KO's) would rank the young Puerto Rican fighter, who made his entire preparation outside of Puerto Rico, for the first time.

For Diaz, the change of opponent did not result in a major adjustment in his plan.

"Cruz has a style that is very similar to that of Casey Ramos and he's already lost twice. But he has lost to good opponents and we know he will come to make a good fight. We are prepared for him and to make the adjustments according to what he brings," said Diaz.

Diaz said he is already three pounds away from the weight limit for what will be his first fight in the super featherweight division.

"Yesterday I came out three pounds away from the weight. We are almost at the weight and we are doing it in manner that is very focused on what needs to be done," he added.

"We made a special visit to ESPN as part of the promotion. The first time I visited them and I was very impressed. Also especially to see several Puerto Ricans who came there to greet me."
