Diaz (19-0, 11 KO's), from Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, who in his last bout dominated the veteran Aztec fighter Raul Hiráles, won an eight round unanimous decision over Fernando Vargas (27-13-3, 20 KO's) in a fight at featherweight.
