The professional relationship between undefeated Christopher "Pitufo" Diaz and coach and manager Ricky Marquez seems to have reached an abrupt end. Marquez is best known as the manager and trainer of Puerto Rican lightweight Felix Verdejo.

Last week, Diaz's discomfort transpired where the boxer claimed that he was receiving little attention in the last few months at Marquez's gym, prompting him to move to New Jersey and begin training under the direction of Raul 'Chino' Rivas, who is known for his work with former world junior lightweight champion Jason 'El Canito' Sosa.

Last week, Diaz posted on his Instagram profile some training videos with Chino at his New Jersey gym.  Diaz indicated that he had differences with Marquez, but that he wanted to discuss them in private.

When reporter Jose Sanchez initially contacted Marquez, who was then with another of his fighters - Henry 'Moncho' Lebrón - for a fight in Florida on July 28. The founder and head of the Diamond Club said that he did not know the situation.

Now, however, Marquez said he was aware of the move.

"He decided to make that decision," said Marquez, who immediately had no plans to take action against his former pupil.

Diaz has a professional record of 21-0 with 13 knockouts and under the tutelage of Márquez he was able to secure a promotional contract with Top Rank and is heading for a possible featherweight title fight.

He was last in action back in April when he knocked out Jose Estrella in Florida.
