Two unbeaten Mexican prospects are prepared to conquer the U.S. market under the guidance of a promoter with a decades-long reputation for finding hidden gems.

Mexican boxing teammates Christian Ollvo and Omar Salcido have entered a co-promotional agreement with Sampson Lewkowicz’s Sampson Boxing LLC and Paco Damian’s Paco Presents. The multi-year deal calls for the pair of 23-year-olds from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico to make their way stateside, with the expectation of soon appearing on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC)-branded events.

“These two proud Mexican fighters will continue the proud tradition of fighters from their country,” Lewkowicz said of his latest signings. “I’m happy to be part of their teams.

“We will be announcing their US debuts very soon.”

Oliva (20-0-1, 7KOs) and Salcido (16-0, 11KOs) have both fought exclusively in Mexico thus far through their respective careers.

The smooth-boxing Olivo turned pro in December 2017, with the bulk of his fights having taken place in his Hermosillo hometown. The promising featherweight kept it local in his most recent bout, an eight-round shutout win over unbeaten countryman Carlos Vargas (15-0 at the time) on the undercard of local hero Juan Francisco Estrada, who defended his lineal junior bantamweight championship in a 12-round victory over Argi Cortes.

“I am proud to sign with my promoters, who have a long history of providing their fighters with good opportunities,” said Olivo. “I can’t wait to show my skills on a big stage. I will be world champion one day soon.”

Salcido appeared on the same show, where he scored a first-round knockout of Erick Encinia on the preliminary undercard. The red-hot lightweight prospect has stopped each of his last three opponents, none going deeper than the second round.

“I will be world champion one day,” vowed Salcido, who will celebrate his five-year pro anniversary in March. “I’m so happy to sign with Sampson and Paco and I’m going to fight my heart out to make them proud and become another champion from Mexico.”

The signing with Lewkowicz and Damian comes courtesy of Alfredo Leon, the head trainer and manager of both boxers who sought the best fit to advance their respective careers.

“Sampson and Paco are known for their support of Mexican boxers and for helping so many of them become champions,” said Alfredo Leon Lopez. “I’m very happy we could reach a deal for these two young boxers’ futures. I look forward to working with them to achieve greatness.”

A fight date and location for their next bouts—likely to come on the same show—is expected in the coming days.
