Undefeated puncher Christian M'Billi (16-0, 15 KOs), admits that he was very surprised when promoter Yvon Michel of GYM did not extend their promotional agreement at the end of 2019.

2016 Olympian M'Billi, who is trained by veteran coach Marc Ramsay, holds no grudge over GYM's decision.

"The end of our association was done professionally," explained M'Billi to The Montreal Journal. "The climate was cordial between Yvon and me despite some disagreements. There may be two or three contracts for fights that were not to my liking."

M'Billi is more interested in looking at the positive side of things.

"I have no regrets about partnering with GYM for three years," M'Billi said. Yvon is a very big promoter and he allowed me to go up 16-0. Thanks to him, I learned a lot about the basics of professional boxing. At the end of my agreement, I wanted to look elsewhere. ”

M'Billi is now aligned with a new manager, Egis Klimas, who is best known for handling the careers of boxers from Eastern Europe like Oleksandr Usyk, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Sergey Kovalev, and several others.

The majority of Klimas' stable is promoted by Top Rank, which could be a potential landing spot for M'Billi.

M'Billi is also looking to move up to super middleweight after having issues making middleweight.

“I easily gain muscle mass. My trainer Marc Ramsay tells me that I look like Jean Pascal at this level. We did tests because I had some problems weighing 160-pounds. For example, when I weighed 180-pounds, I had a fat percentage of 9%. We realized that I lost power in my shots during the fights," M'Billi said.

“One of my strengths is being able to box with a high level of energy for 12 rounds. As for the size of super middleweight boxers, I don't mind. I have always been the smallest in my division.”
