Later tonight, Chris Colbert will take on late replacement Hector Luis Garcia in a featherweight showdown that will serve as Showtime's main event. Colbert was originally scheduled to face Roger Gutierrez for the super WBA junior lightweight title that Gervonta Davis vacated when he decided to campaign in the lightweight division.

Unbeaten junior lightweight Viktor Slavinskyi (13-1-1) was game but suffered his first career defeat against Claudio Marrero (26-5) who picked up his second win in a row. The former interim champion won via majority decision with the final tallies reading 76-76, 78-74, and 77-75.  Marrero, who is a Dominican Republic native, started off fast using a snapping jab and mixed his combinations well.  His Los Angeles based Ukrainian opponent also had moments of success in the middle rounds but Marrero was able to close the show strong and put himself in position for more meaningful fights in the junior lightweight division.

Justin Cardona (7-0) kept his perfect record intact with a third round knockout of Joshua Draughter (4-2-1).  The 22 year old lightweight prospect started off strong, dropping Draughter mere seconds into the first round. Salinas, California's Cardona was too strong for Draughter and continued to hurt him throughout the rest of the fight. The referee stopped the fight in the third round with Draughter still on his feet due to an accumulation of punishment.

Angel Barrientes (8-1) impressed with a 3rd round knockout of Brian Cannady (10-3) in their super bantamweight tilt.  Barrientes scored knockdowns in the second and third rounds, the second of which prompted the referee to waive off the fight.  The 19 year old Barrientes  has now won five fights in a row.

Mesa, Arizona's Micky Scala (5-0) opened up the evening with an impressive second round knockout victory over Jose Gomez (3-2) of Livermore, California in their super welterweight fight.   The Mayweather Promotions' fighter hopes to have a busy 2022 after his 2021 campaign was marred by cancelations from multiple opponents.
