On the night of September 10th at the Forum in Inglewood, California, Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez captured the WBC 115-pound title with a hard-fought 12-round decision over Carlos Cuadras.

And we could be seeing this fight again in the early part of 2017.

"They're actually working on having a rematch some time in February,'' Rudy Hernandez, who trained Cuadras for that first encounter.

After 12 rounds in their first encounter, Gonzalez - who improved his record to (46-0, 38 KO's) - won by the scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111. Cuadras( 35-1-1, 27 KO's) closed strong in the championship rounds but his rally fell short. Gonzalez was noticeably marked up after the fight due to the heavy hands of Cuadras.

"I think Cuadras started just a little bit late and I think that come February in the rematch he starts round 13 and he puts the pressure on and I really believe he can stop 'Chocolatito' in the rematch," opined Hernandez.

In several recent interviews, Gonzalez has expressed his desire to face Cuadras in a rematch, and said the former champion was far more deserving of the opportunity than his countryman, Juan Francisco Estrada, who Gonzalez decisioned back in 2012 at junior flyweight.
