On September 10th at the Forum in Inglewood, California, Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez (45-0, 38KOs) will attempt to win his fourth major world title in his fourth weight class as he steps up to face the WBC super flyweight champion, Carlos Cuadras.

If he should come out victorious, don't assume his days as a flyweight are over.

"No, he's done 112(pounds) perfectly, it's not a problem to do 112," said Gonzalez's manager Carlos Blandon while speaking to BoxingScene.com earlier this week in Big Bear, California.

"What he's looking for right here is not to make the weight. It's to avenge 34 years go, 1982 when Alexis Arguello - twice - wasn't able to beat Aaron Pryor and win a fourth world title. Something that his  mentor and his trainer wasn't able to do. He wants to avenge that."

"So the reason to move up in weight is to win a fourth world title. It's not necessarily because he can't do 112. We still have not given up the WBC 112 (title). We still have the flyweight belt and if a good fight comes up after the Cuadras title and everything comes up as planned then definitely we're up for anything."

Blandon added - ''The WBC already gave us authorization for maintaining both belts at the same time."

BoxingScene.com reached out to WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman, who explained the situation.

"The WBC will wait to the result of the fight . If Gonzalez wins he will have time to decide if he will continue to fight in either division. If he wants to keep both divisions, he would need to send a specific request and that would be sent to the WBC board . The WBC did adjust such a rule while [Floyd] Mayweather was fighting in both divisions, super welterweight and welterweight, so there is precedent and it all depends - if he is moving up definitively, then he won’t need to keep the flyweight," Sulaiman said.
