Nicaragua's Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs) accepts that he made a very hasty decision by heading right into an immediate rematch with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.

Gonzalez made his super flyweight debut in September of 2016 and won a close decision over Carlos Cuadras to capture the WBC world title.

The win made Gonzalez a  four division world champion and many crowned him as the best pound for pound fighter in boxing.

One thing was clear, Gonzalez's face took a beating in the fight with Cuadras. Both of his eyes were very swollen and his face was badly bruised.

He then made a mandatory defense against Sor Rungvisai in March of last year. He was dropped early in the fight and lost what some felt was a controversial twelve round decision.

Gonzalez pushed for an immediate rematch - and he got it.

The second fight happened in September and it was a complete wipeout, with Sor Rungvisai blowing right through Gonzalez. He dropped the Nicaraguan star in the fourth and then leveled him out cold for the full count.

Gonzalez, who plans to fight again in April, believes that he should have taken his time before facing the top level fighters at the weight - because he noticed a big difference in the ring when he fought with Cuadras.

"I have no excuses for the defeats. But I do think that I really rushed myself to get in there with Rungvisai in only my second fight at 115 pounds. The first fight at that weight was against Carlos Cuadras, that's when I won my fourth title, but I felt a big difference from being at 112, because the punches were stronger," said Gonzalez to Titan of Sports.

"I think I should have waited a bit longer before facing the [A-level] of the division, because I was not well adapted to the weight. I do not justify the defeats, Rungvisai won because he was better - but I feel that I rushed myself into those fights."
