According to Don Charles, trainer of British heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora (26-7, 18 KOs), things are heading in the direction of a rematch with Robert Helenius.

Back in 2011, Chisora traveled over to Finland to face Helenius (24-1, 15 KOs) in his backyard. Chisora was the underdog, but he defied the experts and put in one of his finer performances. After the smoke cleared, Chisora lost a controversial twelve round split decision.

At that time, Chisora was promoted by Frank Warren and Helenius was handled by Team Sauerland. At the moment both boxers are being promoted by Sauerland, which makes the fight a lot easier to make.

Last December, Chisora was on the losing end of another close split decision when he fought in a "Fight of The Year" war over twelve rounds with domestic rival Dillian Whyte. Most observers saw Chisora as the winner.

Charles is expected the rematch with Helenius, potentially on a date in May.

"It's sounding like that's the fight that is happening next," Charles exclusively told Sky Sports. "The last encounter we won, but didn't get the decision, so it's something that Dereck needs to rectify and I believe we will. We anticipate he will be fighting in May, wherever there's a boxing ring and a referee."

"Everybody had written him off [against Whyte] but he pulled it out of the bag. Next time, we'll draw confidence from that. Dereck has got his mojo back. He's in the gym. He's experienced enough to be active because you never know - if you get an opportunity, you have to be ready."

Helenius is also looking to bounce back, after suffering the first loss of his career last April after Johan Duhaupas knocked him out in six rounds. Since that defeat, Helenius has fought twice, getting quick first round KO wins over Konstantin Airich and Omar Basile. Chisora would be a big step up from those two opponents.
