O2 Arena, London - British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (29-8, 21 KOs) fought through fire and came from behind to score an eight round knockout of Carlos Takam (35-5-1, 27 KOs).

In his last fight, Takam was stopped by IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in October 2017. Many felt it was a bad stoppage and Takam was coming on. Takam had taken that fight on late notice when Kubrat Pulev withdrew with injury.

Chisora had a quick victory back in March when he stopped Zakaria Azzouzi in two rounds.

Takam was very aggressive in the early going of the first round. Takam trapped Chisora against the ropes and was unloading with both hands to the head and body. Chisora was trying to block as much as he could and landing a few good counters. Takam was still landing the better punches and even stunned Chisora at one point.

They were trading away with big shots in the second. Chisora was digging to the body and Takam was going to the head. Both boxers were landing some solid punches. A close third, with Takam nicking things in the final minute with several hooks that landed. There was a good amount of action in the fourth. Takam once again had the edge in activity and workrate.

For most of the fifth round, Chisora was backed against the ropes as Takam unloaded with punches. Chisora would land punches here and there, but not enough of them. In the sixth round, Takam was doing a lot of damage for most of the round and then Chisora got the crowd on their feet when he erupted with punches in the final twenty seconds.

Takam went right after Chisora at the start of the seventh. They continued to trade big punches, with Takam landed far more punches.

At the start of the eight, Chisora landed a big right hand shot that decked Takam to the mat. Takam got up, on bad legs, and Chisora landed another huge shot that sent Takam down hard and the fight was waved off.
