After finishing his training session on Saturday, WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno discussed his desire to test the waters at 122-pounds.

“I may ask the WBA for special permission to face one of the bigger names who recently moved up to super bantam,” Moreno told Radio La Exitosa.

Earlier today, “Chemito” worked out at the Pedro Alcazar Gym in Curundu, Panama, for the final time before traveling to Texas for his eleventh defense, against David De La Mora on April 21.

“I entered the gym weighing 125 pounds and I will leave at about 121 or 122. After a brief morning run on Sunday, I plan to travel to Texas at 121 pounds”.

Moreno insists on not having any problem with making the bantamweight limit. He is pretty confident on successfully defending his title for the eleventh time and explained that his willingness to fight at 122, under special permission from the WBA, may give him the chance to face the big names like Nonito Donaire without breaking his chain of title defenses.

“I feel that I'm in the prime of my career right now and I`m ready to win some big fights. For my last defense against Vic Darchinyan, my trainer Celso Chavez had a complicated situation with obtaining a U.S. visa for his assistant, so we invited my lawyer and a friend of his to join us in my corner. This time, trainers Orlando Soto and Raul Rodriguez will travel with us, but I told them that I only want to hear Celso´s voice giving me directionse between rounds," added Moreno.
