BoxingScene.com/NotiFight.com was in Costa Rica this week, where we spoke with international boxing agent/promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, who represents Golden Boy Promotions in a potential deal to sign World Boxing Association (WBA) super bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno of Panama.

Lewkowicz is working hard to complete the deal, but the negotiations have stalled over a dispute with Moreno's management team of Roberto Grimaldo and Jacques DesChamps - over the Panamanian television rights.

"Sadly, Dr. Grimaldo is preventing Chemito from being able to earn anywhere from $200 thousand to $1 million, simply by virtue of making a demand for the television rights in Panama, which would be unique to the promoter that I represent, Golden Boy Promotions," said Lewkowicz. "Economically it represents a minimum, because the television network in Panama will never pay what those rights are really worth."

"Golden Boy is going to negotiate those rights to every television network worldwide, including Panama.  This is the only thing that separates Chemito from coming to the United States to show the entire boxing world how good he really is. Unfortunately, sometimes the managers take a position simply because of ego and international inexperience."

"I hope that Dr. Grilmaldo and his representative, Jack Deschamps, move away from this absurd position and look out for the best interests of the fighter."
