Tommy Langford will defend his British middleweight title against Jack Arnfield in the early part of next year.

The pair will meet on February 10 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool after Steve Wood won the purse bids.

Liam Cameron is set to come up against Mark Heffron in a final eliminator for the British middleweight title. It’s currently out to bids and must take place by the end of April.

Though there has been no formal announcement from Wood or anybody associated with Langford on the fight, the British Boxing Board of Control included this news in its latest notices, released on Wednesday, as well as plenty of other tidbits, including the fact that Ted Cheeseman had withdrawn from a fight against James Metcalf for the vacant British super-welterweight title.

Cheeseman, who has relinquished the English title, and Metcalf were paired for the crown after Liam Williams was stripped on a technicality after losing to Liam Smith in a final eliminator for the WBO world title at 154 pounds in Newcastle last month.

But after Cheeseman boxed brilliantly earlier this month as he outpointed Tony Dixon by 80 points to 72 at York Hall it London, it was revealed that the Bermondsey fighter had pulled out of a fight with fellow unbeaten man Metcalf.

Joe Pigford, it seems, has been given a boost on the back of that and will fight Asinia Byfield, according to the Board’s latest notice, in an official eliminator.

The winner is now likely to face Metcalf, undefeated in 17 fights, for the vacant belt.

There was also disappointment for Jazza Dickens, who was hoping to secure a rematch with Tommy Ward for the British super-bantamweight crown, after only an eliminator, between Jason Cunningham and Paul Economides –– which will take place on February 24 at the Doncaster Dome –– on a Stefy Bull show, was ordered for that division.

Meanwhile, Matty Askin’s British cruiserweight title defence against Stephen Simmons has been put out to purse bids again and a new date and venue is awaited for Frank Buglioni’s mandated British light-heavyweight title defence against Commonwealth champion Callum Johnson.

Luke Watkins, the Commonwealth cruiserweight champion, has been ordered to face Tommy McCarthy in a final eliminator for the British crown. The fight has been sent to purse bids and must take place by the end of April.

Coming down the weight divisions, Zach Parker has been pitted against John Ryder, a former two-time British title challenger, in a final eliminator for Rocky Fielding’s belt.

Parker produced a great display in his second-last fight at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool back in September when he stopped Luke Blackledge inside a round in an official eliminator, while Ryder knocked out Patrick Nielsen in a non-title fight back in October.

John O’Donnell vs. Tamuka Muchapondwa will clash on February 16, 2018 at the Indigo at the O2. The fight has been mooted for several months and is finally set to happen, with the Board warning that final eliminator status will be withdrawn if it happens any later than the given date.

Boxing Scene understands that Joe Joyce –– the Hayemaker Ringstar-signed heavyweight –– will also feature on the card.

Martin J Ward has been ordered to defend his British super-featherweight title against Sam Bowen. It’s currently out to bids and must take place by the end of April.

Ryan Walsh will defend his British featherweight title against Isaac Lowe on February 17 at the Manchester Arena, exclusively live on ITV Box Office, as part of the undercard to the World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight semi-final between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr., which is a bill that also features Arfan Iqbal’s English cruiserweight title defence against Simon Valilly.

And Josh Wale will return on February 2 at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena when he defends his British bantamweight crown against Bobby Jenkinson.

In the circular for the English titles, it was revealed by the British Boxing Board of Control that Daniel Dubois has withdrawn from a clash with Nick Webb for the vacant national heavyweight title.

Webb must now face Nathan Gorman, Ricky Hatton’s WBC International Silver champion, with the fight being forced upon the pair by the end of April.

Dec Spelman will box Scott Westgarth on the aforementioned February 24 show at Doncaster Dome, promoted by Stefy Bull, in an official eliminator for the English light-heavyweight title.

At super-middleweight, Frank Warren won the purse bids to stage Darryll Williams’ English title defence against Lennox Clarke, but that is unlikely to happen given the fact that Williams, last month, announced his retirement from the sport.

Andrew Robinson vs. Tyler Denny has been ordered in an official eliminator for the English middleweight title currently held by Elliott Matthews, while Ben Jones withdrew from a fight with Jordan Gill for the vacant English featherweight title.

Sam O’Maison vs. Jeff Saunders has been put out to bids after Akeem Ennis-Brown vacated the English super-lightweight title and Kayamba Prospere will meet Nathan Weise on March 3 in an eliminator for the bauble.

Frank Warren will host Josh Kennedy’s English super-bantamweight title defence against Lucien Reid on a date and venue yet to be advised, a new date is awaited from promoter Dennis Hobson for the vacant English super-flyweight title clash between Loua Nassa and Bradley Watson at the Royal Jersey Showground and Lee Appleyard’s English lightweight title defence against Marcus Ffrench is also in need of new particulars from Stefy Bull.

And Sam Ball vs. Michael McGurk has been ordered for the vacant Celtic super-welterweight title, with promoter Sam Kynoch putting it on at Paisley’s Lagoon Leisure Centre on March 3.
