Only three days from facing each other, former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and his opponent Dominick Britsch are putting the final touches for their battle that will take place this Saturday night in the a 10 round main event of a card promoted by Zanfer Promotions in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico that will be televised in the United States by BeIN Sports Español at 11:00 p.m. Eastern/8:00 p.m. Pacific.

Chavez Jr and his team got into town on Monday night and Britsch has been here for 10 days getting acclimated to the city in anticipation of the fight.

Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs) of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico a former World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion will be in the ring for the first time since July of 2015 and will be fighting in his native Mexico for the first time since January of 2011.

“This fight is very important for my career and I need to be at my best to win. I worked very hard because I want to give the fans a good fight and to prove that I am ready to get back to the elite level of boxing once again,” said Chavez Jr.

Britsch (32-2-1, 11 KOs) of Germany, has won six of his last seven fights and should be a good test for the former world champion.

“I know that I haven’t fought in a long time, but I did not want to come back and face an easy opponent. Want to fight the best and this fight will help get to where I want to be. I expect a tought fight and I am ready for the challenge that Britsch represents,” said Chavez Jr.

Britsch was scheduled to fight for a world title earlier this year but that fight never happened.

“Chavez Jr has the Mexican style of fighting and will come at me. I need to smart and keep him off balance with giving him too many opportunities to do what he wants to do. It will be a good fight between us” said Britsch, who has been in Mexico for 10 days.

“I know is tough fight. Chavez Jr. looks to be in great shape but I am great shape too. All the pressured is on him. I just have to my job and apply everything we done in the gym and show my true talent and get a big win for my career,” added Britsch.

The final press conference will be tomorrow at noon and the weight-in will be at noon on Friday.

Chavez Jr., uncle Rodolfo Chavez, is back as head trainer for this very important fight.

“Julio looks good and confident and seems more focus. Boxing is his priority right now and he wants to make sure he is doing the right things to be successful in the ring,” said Rodolfo.
