A few days ago, it was revealed that Mahmoud Charr - as part of a legal settlement with the World Boxing Association - regained the WBA "regular" heavyweight title.

Charr, 38-years-old, was also ordered to make a mandatory defense against undefeated contender Jarrell Miller.

Charr has been out of action since last December. He's won his last six fights.

Miller has been a controversial figure since 2019 - due to numerous drug test failures. He finally returned to the sport last year, and so far has picked up three wins in a row. The last fight took place in March, in Dubai, with Miller stopping former beltholder Lucas Browne in six rounds.

According to Charr, the fight with Miller will take place in Lagos in Nigeria or potentially shift over to Las Vegas.

Beyond a fight with Miller, Charr wants to get in the ring with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

"I will beat Miller and want to move to Tyson Fury," Charr told Sky Sports. "Fury and me, it will be the best fight right now in heavyweight entertainment. I am always looking to fight the best, this is Fury right now."

Dmitriy Salita, who promoters Miller, told Sky Sports - "Getting that heavyweight title and finally fighting the division's best would be a redemption for Jarrell who has experienced the ups and the downs of the sport. Now as a mature, experienced fighter I believe he has the mental attitude needed to reach his potential."

For whatever reason, Charr explained that he doesn't have interest in colliding with former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

"Many people tell me [to] fight Anthony Joshua after that [fight with Miller]. Really I am not interested in fighting him," Charr said. "I want legacy. If want to be the best, I need to beat the best. Tyson Fury is my focus, nothing else. I know AJ is money but money doesn't attract me. Legacy is the goal."
