Charlie Edwards will return to the ring in a couple of months.

The former IBF flyweight world title challenger has now moved up in weight and is set to vie for a title in his next outing.

Edwards (9-1, 4 KOs), who was stopped by Johnriel Casimero in London last September, will face Iain Butcher in Glasgow, live on Sky Sports.

Their clash, which will take place on April 15 at the SSE Hydro Arena in the city, will be for the vacant British super-flyweight crown.

Edwards’ meeting with ‘Baby’ Butcher (15-2, 4 KOs) will form part of the supporting cast to Ricky Burns’ WBA super-lightweight title defence against IBF & IBO champion Julius Indongo of Namibia in a unification showdown and was confirmed by the 24-year-old’s promoter Eddie Hearn on Thursday via social media.

The British title had previously been held by Birmingham’s Kal Yafai, who relinquished the crown after winning the WBA super-flyweight world title against Luis Concepcion last December.

Butcher, 24, has previously challenged for the Lonsdale belt down at flyweight and has also held the WBO European belt in the eight-stone division.

Burns’ top-of-the-bill clash with Indongo will also be flanked by the professional debut of Josh Kelly, who turned professional under Matchroom Boxing earlier this week.

Elsewhere on the card, Scott Cardle will defend his British lightweight title as he looks to get it for keeps while his gym-mate Callum Johnson, who is a Commonwealth Games gold medal winner from the 2010 Games in Delhi, is expected to defend his Commonwealth light-heavyweight title and there is action slated for Joe Ham and Charlie Flynn, who is expected to vie for his first professional title.

Further additions to the card are expected to be revealed in due course.
