New York, New York - Not many people including the man himself, Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20KOs), thought he would be getting a shot at a piece of the heavyweight championship this soon.

Once Tyson Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko last November, he was put in a tough decision - decline a lucrative rematch that Klitschko that was mandated by a contract he signed or lose the IBF world heavyweight title for not going forward with a mandatory defense against Czar Glazkov (21-0-1, 13KOs).

Fury went the Klitschko route, hence leaving the IBF title vacant. The sanctioning body ordered a fight between Martin and Glazkov. Martin knows the critics are out there but says he will make the most of his opportunity.

“It made feel good man, I love it,” Martin said in regards to his title shot. People say we both don’t deserve a title shot as well. It is what it is, we both getting that shot.”

Martin feels he can broke Glazkov down systematically.

“We staying training hard, doing runs and pad work and keeping our defense tight,” explained Martin. “We want to be the full package. It’s going to be a good fight, training in the high altitude will have me ready. We just going to go get this one and pick up this belt. I plan on just beating the fight out of him, breaking him down round by round. We’re just going to break him down.”

As for the rest of the heavyweight division, Martin says there will be interesting fights down the road.

“Fury is a good fighter. He beat Wladimir Klitschko, it’s good for the division. We have a handful of good fighters and once we’re all established, we’re going to make for good fights.”
