February 9, 2007 is a day that will forever remain a groundbreaking day in the life of Heavyweight Contender Derric Rossy.  On that day, this fast-rising prospect at just 15-0 stepped up to the plate to take on another undefeated prospect, the 27-0 world-ranked Eddie Chambers.  This fight taught Derric Rossy (who at the time would weigh-in at 250+ lbs) that he won't be able to walk through all of his opponents, as Chambers handed the former All-American from Boston College his first loss.  Going into this fight, he had only 25 career bouts under his belt: 10 amateur, 15 professional.  That was 10 times less than his younger, yet more experienced opponent had and it showed the first time they met.

With the bitter taste of defeat, Derric learned more about himself than he could have ever imagined.  It was time for a change; a change in style, a change in training, a change in mentality.  You can only go so far in boxing with just athleticism. and Derric was now aware that his football roots should merely serve as a stepping stone to becoming a student of boxing.  After training with the Shaolin monks in China for 3 months, transforming his body from bulky & thick football physique to that of a solid & ripped boxer, Derric has gained experience with 11 more professional fights to bring his record to an impressive 25-2 (14KO), Rossy now considers himself a student of the game.

Fast forward almost 4 years to the date, and now we're looking at what can truly be a road to redemption for Derric Rossy as the IBF has constructed a brilliantly sought-out tournament to help revive the Heavyweight Division, pinning Rossy versus Chambers for the #1 position.  While certain fighters ranked higher than Rossy turned down the opportunity to participate for various reasons, when Derric was approached he immediately welcomed the opportunity to take on the toughest competition in the division and be granted the opportunity to showcase his skills.  He is now set for a long-anticipated rematch with "Fast" Eddie Chambers that will take place in February.  Look forward to  press release to announce date & site soon, which is soon to be released

"That first fight with Chambers was a completely different Derric Rossy.  I really had no experience and was just trying to out-tough my opponents.  Eddie beating me was really a rude awakening, showing me I needed to learn the craft and not try to out-muscle everyone I fight.  I've worked really hard on developing my skills and devoting my life to becoming the best Heavyweight in the world, and now's the time I get to show it.  This is my shot and I have no intention of letting it slip away.  I am not making a prediction, but rather a statement to the world.  I am bringing the Heavyweight Championship back to the USA and I am going to bring new life to the sport of boxing.  I think the fact I will have to go through Eddie Chambers again will make it even sweeter."
