Former world champion Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero (37-6, 24KOs) was beaten up and punished for twelve rounds on Saturday night in Los Mochis, when he went down four times from hard punches being fired by undefeated Adrian Estrella (19-0, 17KOs).

Caballero was dropped twice in the fifth, when he was nearly knocked out cold. He surived but then saw himself get knocked down again in the tenth and in the eleventh. The scores were very lopsided in the end, 117-107 twice and 115-109.

At 38-years-old and now losing four of his last seven, Caballero was unable to compete with the 22-year-old up and coming Mexican boxer. Caballero said that he plans to take some time away from boxing to reflect on his career and then he will make the ultimate decision on whether he plans to continue further in the sport or retire. Caballero is said to interested in being a referee and a judge after his fighting career is over.
