Jarrett Hurd still awaits word on his next fight, but for now will focus on his next confirmed boxing assignment.

The former unified junior middleweight titlist will serve as an expert ringside analyst for the Nov. 2 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FS1 Fight Night, which airs live from MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland (Saturday, FS1, 10:30pm ET). Headlining the show, former secondary titlist Brian Castaño (15-0-1, 11KOs) faces veteran spoiler Wale Omotoso (28-4, 22KOs) in a 10-round junior middleweight contest.

Castaño fights for the first time since a hard-fought 12-round draw versus former titlist Erislandy Lara this past March in Brooklyn, New York. The bout marked his final fight as a secondary titlist, as he was forced to vacate ahead of his eventually canceled rematch with France’s Michel Soro in July.

Omotoso—a Nigeria-born puncher who now lives and trains in California—enters on the heels of a career-resurrecting 3rd round knockout of Curtis Stevens in August.

Hurd’s ringside presence serves dual purpose, given his standing as a top 154-pound talent along with residing in nearby Accokeek, roughly 20 minutes away. Hurd (23-1, 16KOs) will join lead announcer Ray Flores and Hall of Fame former lightweight champion Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini on Saturday’s call.

The show will also mark the return of Jordan Plant, the artist formerly known as Jordan Hardy who resumes her role as onsite reporter for the first time since her marriage to reigning unbeaten super middleweight titlist Caleb Plant.

As for Hurd, it marks the second time in this role with both taking place at this very venue. His previous assignment came in late March, when he was behind the microphone for a Fight of the Year-level main event where Sergey Lipinets rallied to stop local hero Lamont Peterson in the 10th round of a battle between former titlists.

At the time, Hurd was an undefeated and unified 154-pound titlist and on the bubble in terms of pound-for-pound consideration. Times have significantly changed, as he was dealt his first career defeat in his own Fight of the Year entrant, suffering a knockdown en route to a 12-round loss to Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams this past May in nearby Fairfax, Virginia.

Hurd previously exercised a rematch clause in place, with the two previously due to once again collide on Dec. 14 in Brooklyn. That fight—never formally announced by PBC brass—is no longer on the table, as Williams is now eyeing a homecoming title defense in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, likely slated for mid-January.

What next awaits Hurd in the ring remains publicly unknown, although the subject will undoubtedly come up during Saturday’s telecast.
