BURBANK, Calif. - Junior lightweight Casey Ramos had to deal with an injured right eye more so than his opponent on Saturday night.

For the most past, Ramos was able to get through both.

Ramos won an eight round technical decision over Jonathan Perez before a sold-out crowd at the Burbank Convention Center in this Los Angeles suburb.

Ramos improves to 22-0, 5 KOs, while Perez drops to 35-14, 28 KOs.

Ramos, who had not fought since November 20, was fighting in his first scheduled 10 round bout. Perez had won his last two bouts in a row.

Perez was the aggressor throughout most the bout, but Ramos was able to counter him with ease, especially with left hooks to the head. It was a left hook to the head near the end of round two that dropped Perez to the canvas.

While Ramos was in control, he had to deal with blood that trickled into his right eye from a cut that opened due to an accidental clash of heads in round three.

Perez continued to press forward, but Ramos continued to dissect the fighter from Colombia. Ramos sat down on his punches in the later rounds, but was unable to hurt Perez.

The bout came to a conclusion near the end of the eighth round, when the ringside physician deemed the cut was too severe to continue. Per California Athletic Commission rules, the bout went to the scorecards, where Ramos won comfortably with scores of 80-71 from all three judges.

Middleweight Joe Louis Lopez (8-0, 5 KOs) stopped Liam Vaughn in the third round. Vaughn (9-3, 2 KOs) controlled the first two rounds, but was hurt early in round three by a Lopez right hand. Lopez followed up with a barrage of punches before referee Dr. Lou Moret stopped the bout at 1:17.

Welterweight Arnold Barboza remained unbeaten with a six round unanimous decision over Max Becerra. Barboza (11-0, 4 KOs) was at his best when he was the aggressor, landing to the head of Becerra (8-2-2, 5 KOs), who had his best moments in the fourth round. Both fighters exchanged in the middle of the ring during the final two rounds, but it was Barboza who landed the more effective punches. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Barboza, 60-54, 60-54, and 59-55.

Junior lightweight Guy Robb stopped Carlos Padilla after the fourth round of their scheduled eight round bout. Robb (18-1, 8 KOs) landed the more effective punches early on, although Padilla (15-4, 9 KOs) landed an occasional counter to the head. With less than a minute left in the fourth round, Robb hurt Padilla with a left hook to the head. Moments later, a barrage of punches dropped Padilla in a corner. While Padilla was able to make it out of the round, his corner advised referee Raul Caiz, Sr. to stop the fight.

In the opening bout of the Top Rank card, junior featherweight Miguel Alcantara (2-0, 2 KOs) stopped Marco Alcaraz at 1:31 of the second round. Alcantara followed up with a barrage of punches after stunning Alcaraz (1-9), prompting referee Dr. Lou Moret to step in and stop the bout.
