Welterweight Carson Jones has played "the opponent" role enough times to be SAG-eligible, but on several occasions has broken character to pull off the upset. The 25-year-old from Oklahoma City, OK says he isn't coming to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to play the fall guy to "house fighter" Said Ouali in their ten-round supporting bout on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Victor Ortiz.

"It doesn't bother me coming in as an 'opponent,'" said Jones, 31-8-2 (21 KO) of his clash with the 28-3 (20 KO) Ouali of Las Vegas, Nev. "Everyone has to come as 'the opponent' sooner of later, it's just a matter of how you handle the situations."

Jones endured a stretch from 2006-2008 where he lost four of five bouts, but has since lost twice in his last 22 bouts while racking up stoppage wins over Tyrone Brunson and Michael Clark. Jones has managed to earn a number nine ranking with the IBF at 147 pounds, where Ouali is ranked seventh.

Ouali, who is a native of Morocco is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, the lead promoter for the show. Jones had some choice words for the company's CEO and main attraction.

"Well, the guy is great. and yes I look up to him to a certain extent, but his attitude seems a little messed up and he really doesn't portray himself to be too good of a guy," said Jones.

"I don't know him so I can't say, but it's just what is seen on TV that makes him look like a bit of a jerk."

Regarding the main event, Jones said he is "putting money on Ortiz" at 5-1 odds, but thinks Mayweather will emerge victorious.
