Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames can’t wait to face Juan Macias Montiel on Saturday night. The two middleweights will square off at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on the Sebastian Fundora-Carlos Ocampo undercard that will be televised by Showtime.

The Dominican Republic native, who is trained by Bob Santos, finished up his training camp in the high altitude of Otumba, Mexico. Adames trained alongside two-division world champion Rey Vargas.

With a victory over Montiel, Adames will become the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Jermall Charlo, who won a hard fought decision over the rugged Mexican last year.

“I’m focused on Montiel 100%. The goal is to get another title shot. After Saturday night we are ready for Charlo or any other champion in the division. The goal is to become world champion,” said Adames.

In December, Adames picked up a career best victory over former title challenger Sergey Derevyanchenko. His only career loss came against former super welterweight champion Patrick Texeira in 2019.

“I have the perfect team in place and everyone will see that I am the best middleweight in the world. I am coming for all the champions,” Adames told BoxingScene.com.

Adames trainer Bob Santos agrees, “People are afraid of Adames. No one wants to fight him. Charlo is high on our list. So is (Gennadiy) Golovkin. We would even move up to 168 for David Benavidez or Caleb Plant. We are willing to face any champion after we take care of Montiel.”
