Power punching super middleweight Izaak Cardona, 14-2, 14KOs, is headed to California to take on an undefeated Columbian prospect in Roamer Angulo, 15-0, 14KOs. The bout is scheduled for August 27th at the Show Palace, in Oceanside, California and will be promoted by Jorge Marron Productions.

Cardona is coming off a local bout where he stopped Demetrius Walker in the second round. He recently had a bout scheduled with Marco Antonio Rubio, but the card fell apart and his chance to ‘get noticed’ was gone. This will be another opportunity to impress.

This will be Angulo’s first fight on American soil as he started his career in Colombia before being ‘on tour’ in Europe, mostly Germany. Watching Angulo on film he looks to be an aggressive pressure fighter with power in his straight right and left hook. Reminds me of another Colombian boxer, Edison Miranda.

Cardona’s two losses have both come by split decision, the most recent being to Samuel Clarkson last year. Clarkson just upset Haymon backed Jerry Odom, stopping him in the third on Shobox. This bout is scheduled for 8 rounds at super middleweight, but, in 31 fights between them, 29 have ended in knockouts. I can’t see this one going to the final bell.
