Dangerous junior middleweight contender Alfredo "Perro" Angulo will be the opponent of former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The once-beaten Mexican superstar says Angulo (22-3, 18KOs) will be the boxer in the other corner, as Canelo returns for the first since losing a twelve round majority decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September of last year.

Canelo says the card will also feature an undercard fight between his brother, Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez, and WBC interim-lightweight champion Omar "Panterita" Figueroa.

Angulo is coming off a June 2013 ten round TKO loss to Erislandy Lara, where Angulo had the Cuban boxer down twice before suffering an eye injury that led to the fight being stopped in the tenth.

Canelo branded Angulo as - "a strong, very dangerous fighter, who always gives good fights, and that's what people want to see. I thank the fans for the support they have always given me. They know that in every fight I always come to win, and they know there is going to be a good fight when the opponent wants to fight. We are here to please them."

If Floyd Mayweather vacates the WBC junior middleweight to continue his campaign at welterweight, where Mayweather has the WBC's 147 crown, then the vacant WBC belt could be up for grabs in match.

"If [the belt] is available, of course [I would want it involved]. I would love to be world champion and I'm ready for that," Canelo said.

Trainer Chepo Reynoso and his son, Eddy, are getting the training arraignments ready for Saul. On January 11th, they are traveling with Saul, and his brother Ricardo, from Guadalajara to San Diego, California, where they plan to hold their camp.

"I learned a lot [from the Mayweather loss] and obviously it was an experience for me. That fight, I did not take it as a defeat but as a learning experience, teaching me to keep winning my fights. Actually I feel good and I can fight anyone, and I'm confident that nobody will beat me," Canelo said.

"We are going to review our mistakes. I think [Mayweather] has a very difficult style, but are going to look at the mistakes that were made in the fight and obviously learn from that in order to win my fights in the future."

Canelo hopes that Ricardo will beat Figueroa, to make Mexican boxing history. Their older brother Rigoberto was the WBA's interim-champion at 154. If Ricardo wins, they would become the first trio of brothers to win world titles from Mexico.

"It would be a great honor for me to become the first trio of brothers to be world champions in Mexico. That would be something very good for us and we would be very happy about that," Canelo said.

Canelo wanted Showtime Pay-Per-View to distribute all three of his 2013 ring appearances, but there is no confirmation if this event will land on PPV.
