Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is willing to work with everyone to secure the best opponents possible.

Last month, Canelo reached an agreement to break away from his longtime promoter, Golden Boy Promotions.

He returns to the ring on December 19th, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, when he faces WBA super middleweight world champion Callum Smith. DAZN will stream the event.

The contest will be Canelo's first bout since November 2019, when he moved up by two weight divisions to score a knockout of Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight title. Not long after, Canelo vacated the belt and revealed that he planned to move down in weight.

At the moment, Canelo plans to self-promote his own career.

His trainer and co-manager, Eddy Reynoso, is also leading the way on the promotional end - and is adding new fighters to their roster.

"The most important thing is to focus on me and the fighters that Eddy brings right now. It's not my shot to be a promoter, but you never know. I love boxing and doing it myself... to be inside of the ring, but Eddy loves boxing and he really wants to be a promoter and we will see what happens. We have several years left and we will support the boys who are with us and want to join," said Canelo to ESPN Deportes.

Reynoso is ready to work with Premier Boxing Champions, Matchroom and even Top Rank.

"We have a very good relationship with Eddie Hearn, who runs Matchroom, with Al Haymon from PBC, with Bob Arum from Top Rank , so we are open to work with any promoter who has a boxer that we can get for a good fight," Reynoso said.

"In this case, Hearn has Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Gennadiy Golovkin. On the other hand, Haymon has Errol Spence who also raised his hand [to fight Canelo], he has David Benavidez. There are many boxers who are with different promoters and with being free [agents] we can negotiate with any promoter and television station. I believe that no promoter or television station will be struggling to do business with a fighter like Canelo."
