WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) has made a big promise to all of his countrymen in Mexico - "I'm going to beat the best fighter in the world." Canelo defends his title against pound-for-pound Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. They will clash at a catch-weight limit of 152-pounds on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

"I knew something good would come, so we continued to train for anything that came about. I only rested for a week after the fight with Austin Trout. This was the fight I wanted because he is listed as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. We are not going to overlook any detail of our preparation. This is the biggest fight of my career and want to be at my best, so I think I had to get this fight right now when I feel great physically and feel that I'm able to beat Mayweather," Canelo said.

"I know [this fight] is a big commitment to my fans in Mexico, because so many of them expected or wanted to see me fight against a figure like Mayweather but we always had this in mind because we wanted to be the best, and in order to do that we had to face the best."
