Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has provided some words of advice to former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Last Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Wilder was knocked out in the eleventh round of his trilogy fight with WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

Wilder entered the ring at a career-high 238-pounds.

Some observers believe the extra muscle mass was too much for Wilder to carry, as the dangerous puncher appeared to be exhausted by the midway point of the fight.

Wilder was knocked down for the first time in the third round. Just when the end appeared near, Wilder dropped Fury twice in the fourth. And then it was Fury who had to recover and retake control of the fight. Fury would drop Wilder for a second time in the tenth, before scoring a third knockdown in the eleventh to close the show.

According to CompuBox, Wilder took more punches in that encounter than in any of his previous fights.

He plans to get surgery for an injury that was suffered to his right hand. A ring return is being targeted for the middle of 2022.

When he returns, Canelo would like to see better conditioning, more head movement and more tools in his arsenal.

"Great fight, great fight. I think Wilder needs more condition, more moves, move the head. It's difficult when you don't have condition and don't know how to move. That's why Tyson Fury beat him. Tyson Fury's a great fighter," Canelo told The Last Podcast with Brian Custer.
