Luke Campbell has insisted his rapid rise will be too much for the overmatched Tommy Coyle to handle in their fight this weekend.

The Hull lightweights will collide at the Rumble on the Humber on Saturday night at 8pm on Sky Sports 1 HD in a fight between cross-city rivals.

The undefeated Campbell claims that his superiority over Coyle as Hull’s top fighter will be evident when they finally share a ring.

“I believe in facts,” he told Sky Sports. “There’s levels in boxing and I believe I’m a fair few above him.

“I’ve got speed, I’ve got power, I’m switched on and I’m smart.

“I think one of my attributes as a fighter is being consistent – that shows on my amateur record. I won a European gold, a world silver and an Olympic gold medal.

“That’s because I’m consistent and that shows in the professional ranks too – you’ve seen every fight that I get better and better.”

Campbell claims that despite his confidence, he is aware of the threat that Coyle poses and can’t afford to aim beyond his immediate rival.

But the 27-year-old ultimately wants to use their hometown dust-up, a WBC lightweight title eliminator, as a platform to propel himself onto bigger and better things.

“I’ve never overlooked any opponent,” he said. “I take each and every opponent the same, and I prepare the same. Saturday night is about going out there and showing everybody how good I am.

“I’m confident I’ll go out there and get the win. Tommy’s a good fighter, he’s experienced, he knows his way around the ring. My intention is to look good, to perform and get the win whether that’s by KO or on points.

“I want to go to the top in this game, that’s what it’s about. Saturday night will be a showcase of my skills then I can move upwards and onwards.”
