Promoter Camille Estephan has said that super lightweight Steve Claggett won’t face Mike Ohan Jr. this coming Thursday on United Boxing Promotions-Eye of the Tiger co-promotion at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Quebec.

Claggett (38-7-2, 26 KOs) has racked up nine straight victories to find himself ranked No. 7 with the WBC, 13th by the WBO and he has also snuck into 15th place with the IBF.

“He’s off the April 11th show,’ Estephan said exclusively to boxingscene.com. “I can’t tell you too much more about it, but we are hoping for big news soon.”

Sources close to boxingscene.com have suggested that Claggett is being considered as an opponent for WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez

Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) scored an unappealing unanimous-decision win over Jamaine Ortiz in his first title defense in February.

“Claggett is an amazing story,” Estephan added. “His story is that he was fighting our guys and looking amazing. He was delivering beautiful, entertaining fights. He was basically doing this all on his own. He lost to one of the guys, I decided then to sign Steve and eventually let go of the guy he lost to.

“Since then we have surrounded him. Now he is nine fights and nine wins, eight knockouts against super competition. We pride ourselves on giving our athletes all they need to develop their talent and deliver results.”
