A source close to Michael Jennings has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that his forthcoming bout with Kell Brook, which would have been for the Ingle-trained Young British Fighter of the year’s British welterweight title, has been scrapped.  Brook has succumbed to a virus that has ensured he has been unable to finish his training camp and prepare properly for this Friday’s bout.

Michael Jennings is unsure if a replacement will be found in due time.  Jennings is hoping to know before the end of play today (Monday) if he will be featuring on the undercard of the all Liverpool clash between Paul Smith and Tony Quigley for the British Super- Middleweight Title.

Jennings, 32, is a former world title challenger; he lost to Miguel Cotto earlier this year and would have given Kell a real test.  Brook, 23, has had a sensational 2009, with wins over Stuart Elwell and Michael Lomax, and the fight itself looked a potential fight of the year candidate.

Sky Sports 1 broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena this coming Friday from 10pm.
