Adrien Broner doesn’t see it ending well for Ryan Garcia if he ever ends up swapping punches with Gervonta "Tank" Davis.

The multi-weight division champion from Cincinnati weighed in on the match-up du jour, but unlike some boxing fans, he did not sound all too enthusiastic about it, essentially saying that it would be a clear-cut mismatch in Davis’ favor.

“Honestly, I don’t think Ryan should ever get in with Tank,” Broner told Cigar Talk.

Broner, who is close friends with the hard-hitting Davis, is also evidently concerned about Garcia in that potential matchup and noted that he is actually good friends with the Victorville, California, native.

Broner said that he and Garcia have had conversations last year when Garcia was going through mental health struggles.

“The crazy thing is I got a lot of love for Ryan,” Broner said. “Ryan called me. I talk to Ryan. You gotta understand I really got relationships with these fighters, like, when Ryan was going through that sh!t, he called and we talked. I ain’t gonna talk about what we talked about and sh!t.”

Still, Broner––who is gearing up for his 140-pound bout with Omar Figueroa on Aug. 20 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida––apparently has a hard time seeing how Garcia can keep up with the southpaw puncher from Baltimore.

“I f--- with Ryan heavy, but he don’t need to go nowhere near Tank at this point in his career,” Broner said. “I know it’s a big fight for boxing, but I just don’t think he needs to go [fight] Tank right now.”

“Listen bro (Garcia),” Broner added, “don’t go messing with the lil dude (Davis).”

Talk of Davis-Garcia escalated after Garcia notched a rousing sixth-round knockout of Javier Fortuna at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, but actual negotiations between the representatives of both fighters seem scant at best.

After appearing confident that serious talks could be had with Davis’ handlers at Premier Boxing Champions, Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, recently indicated that he had no luck reaching anybody from that side. De La Hoya said he would instead try to pursue Teofimo Lopez, a client of rival outfit Top Rank, as an opponent for Garcia.
