According to former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, David Haye is dragging his feet on finalizing a deal that would see them fight in the fall.

Haye (28-2, 26KOs) and Briggs (60-6-1, 53KOs) were both in action on May 21 at the O2 Arena in London, when they picked up easy knockout wins against overmatched opponents. The show as used a tool to hype up a Haye-Briggs showdown for the fall.

Haye has been inactive for several years and only had three rounds rounds of non-competitive fighting since knocking out Dereck Chisora in 2012. He snapped his layoff in January of this year.

Haye personally promised Briggs, and the local press in the UK, that he would fight the aging veteran if he appeared on his undercard and won. Haye has not made good on that promise, says Briggs.

The two fighters had a near confrontation last month, when Briggs attempted to approach Haye at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Both fighters were in the building to sit ringside for Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton.

"David Haye, AKA Daisy Haye, said if I fought on his undercard he would fight me next. Wladimir Klitschko said after he fought Leapai he would fight me next in NYC and fought someone else. Beyonce Wilder turned down $2 million after he said when he won the title [that] he would fight me. They say I'm dangerous. They soft on the inside. Like mini pies. This is why I run down on them and talk the most sh*t in boxing history. I'm blackballed due to fear," Briggs stated.
