Rob Brant (25-1) isn't the least bit worried about the judging in his July 12th rematch against Ryota Murata (14-2) in Osaka, Japan. Brant won a dominant decision over Murata in Las Vegas last October to capture the WBA "regular" title and plans on performing even better in the rematch.

Murata's other professional loss actually took place in Japan in 2017 against Hassan N'Dam and was controversial as most observers felt that the home fighter should have gotten the nod on the scorecards. Murata would gain revenge in an immediate rematch when he stopped N'Dam in 7 rounds.

“I am confident that it is going to very fair judging. I am not as worried about that. I can only worry about what my job is and my job is to win every round and treat every round as an individual fight and win every fight I have with him. That is my main focus. Everything else is kinda out of my hands but I know if I do my job correctly it will be an easy decision to make,” Brant recently told BoxingScene.com.

With that being said, Brant expects Murata to perform much better the second time around in front of his compatriots.  He believes that the 2012 Olympic Gold medalist is a much better fighter at home and said that he will have to be at the top of his game to defeat him again.

“I have always felt that his true powers and abilities were when he is in front of his people. This is me really proving to the rest of the world that I bring my full potential with me wherever I go. There are going to certain things I am sure he is going to try. Anybody who is an active puncher such as myself, they all try the same thing - go to the body and try to nullify the jab - so it’s my job to take those kings away from him. He’s going to try a lot of things but I don’t see him being successful,” Brant stated.

The fight will be streamed live at 7am eastern on the ESPN+ application along with Ken Shiro (17-0) defending his WBC light flyweight title against Jonathan Taconing (28-3-1).
