Brandon Glanton continues to punch his way into contention.

The hope among his team is that the next win will actually land a title shot.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Atlanta’s Glanton will next face New Zealand’s David Light atop a December 2 ProBox TV show from Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The battle of unbeaten cruiserweights was pitched to the WBO in hopes of sanctioning the fight as a final eliminator, though such a request has been tabled for the moment.

Glanton (17-0, 14KOs) has quickly become a series favorite, racking up a pair of early knockout wins since joining ProBox earlier this summer. The 30-year-old contender from the greater Atlanta area remains best known for his ten-round, split decision win over Efotobor Apochi in their Fight of the Year-level slugfest last June 27 in Minneapolis.

Despite the breakout win, Glanton was left out in the cold. The win took place on a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox show, with Apochi represented by PBC. Nearly a year passed between fights for Glanton, who returned to the ring this past May and has racked up three knockouts in a four-month span.

The bout with Light will mark his fourth fight of a 2022 campaign that could lead to big things in the year ahead.

Light (19-0, 12KOs)–who is promoted by No Limit Boxing—will travel to the U.S. for just the second time in his career, though coming within a three-fight span and now both occasions taking place in Florida. The 30-year-old from North Shore, N.Z. scored a first-round knockout on a May 7 show in Hialeah, Florida. He has since returned to the ring on October 9, stopping Vikas Singh in the second round of a cruiserweight fight in Newcastle, Australia.

The battle to rise to contention is only due to both boxers currently residing outside the top five of the WBO rankings. Light is currently number-six, while Glanton is number-ten. Matt Rose of No Limit Boxing along with Ruben DeJesus and Felix Zabala III of ProBox pleaded to the WBO on behalf of their fighters to strongly consider the winner to become the mandatory challenger to current cruiserweight titlist Lawrence Okolie (18-0, 14KOs).
