Brandon Adams can’t help but feel like he’s been here before.

A second straight training camp has been completed heading into a rescheduled showdown versus Serhii Bohachuk (18-0, 18KOs). The two collide this Thursday, atop the 2021 season premiere of NBC Sports Network’s Ring City USA series airing live from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

The bout comes three months after they were originally due to meet last December, on this very platform from Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. Bohachuk was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19, with Adams left to face late substitute Sanny Duversonne whom he annihilated inside of two rounds. Now comes the chance to once again apply all of the gym work into the ring against a rising junior middleweight contender.

“I’ve now trained twice for Serhill,” Adams points out to BoxingScene.com. “We already had a full camp for him last time, then he had to pull out the Friday before the fight. All of the work was done by then, so it was a matter of just adapting to the new opponent and then returning to the gym to fine tune everything we’ve already done before.”

The bout is the second for Adams (22-3, 14KOs) since coming up well short in a middleweight title bid versus Jermall Charlo in June 2019. His first career title fight came after running the tables in the revamped season of The Contender, going 4-0 in the tournament-style boxing reality series including a landslide points win over second-generation boxer Shane Mosley Jr. in the Nov. 2018 season finale.

All of the bouts in the series save for the finals took place behind closed doors, even well before the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Thursday’s main event will top the fourth Ring City show since debuting last November, all coming during the pandemic and without fans in attendance including Adams’ aforementioned win over Duversonne.

“It was definitely different fighting outside and without fans, but I was kind of used to it if you think about it,” notes Adams. “For me, I’ve sparred most of the time in a quiet gym. Plus being on The Contender, I was in a scenario completely different to everyday boxing.

“I adapted to that scenario and have adapted to this as well. Again, there’s nothing I will see on Thursday in the ring or anything leading up to the fight that I haven’t already experienced. The same can’t be said for Serhii, who is going to walk into a brand-new situation and facing the total package. He has the perfect record, knocked everyone out. But he has never experienced anyone like me. He has the opportunity to see it for the first time and will have to deal with a real one with me.”
