The career of Roiman Villa was incredibly successful but one that flew under the radar. The Colombian wasn't wildly popular, not even in his native land. Still, his lack of notoriety didn't stop him from putting essentially everyone that he fought six feet under the canvas.

Yet, even with Villa and Jaron Ennis set to square off this upcoming weekend in Atlantic City, Derek “Bozy” Ennis, father and trainer of the welterweight contender, hasn’t lost a bit of sleep.

“He’s alright,” said Bozy to YSM Sports Media. “Basic fighter, comes right at you and he can punch.”

Myopic might be the best way to describe Villa’s style of attack but it’s one that’s undoubtedly effective. Just a few short months ago, the 30-year-old was also given unflattering reviews by Rashidi Ellis.

Ellis smiled and joked in Villa’s face ahead of their January 7th, clash. On fight night, his smile grew a bit wider as Villa’s head was used as target practice. The Colombian native took his beating like a man during the first six rounds. And while his face began to deteriorate, his engine never slowed down.

The second half is where things got tricky for Ellis. His smile turned into winces and he huffed and puffed while trying to use perpetual movement to offset Villa. Ultimately, Villa’s rally, including two knockdowns in the final round, allowed him to pick up the victory.

Ironically enough, Ennis (30-0, 27 KOs) also fought on that same undercard. Just a few minutes before strolling to the ring, Ennis couldn’t believe what he was watching. Bozy, nevertheless, gave Villa credit for scoring the upset win. It wasn't some master plan that Villa followed. In fact, he never made a single adjustment.

Villa’s decision to show off his iron chin may have paid off against Ellis but Bozy warns the welterweight contender that an unGodly beating will be awaiting him if he tries to rinse and repeat.

“He’s gonna get knocked out if he tries the same thing.”
