Sometimes it takes less than a couple of hours to discard rumors of the proposed fight and to do that in real time. That is exactly what happened yesterday with a proposed fight between heavyweight fringe contenders Denis Boytsov (35-1, 26 KOs) and WBC #9 Manuel Charr (27-2, 16 KOs).

The theme was first brought up by Vyacheslav Karakash of World of Boxing Promotions, who said to R-Sport:

“There’s a possibility that we should have Manuel Charr fighting on April 4 in Moscow. We have an agreement with Kalle Sauerland that Charr’s opponent can be Denis Boytsov, who is promoted by Sauerland Event”.

However, the rumor didn't live long enough to become a hot topic anywhere.

“We have offered such a fight to Charr, but he refused to clash against Denis”, said Kalle, his manager. “Boytsov is back on March 21 in Rostock, Germany. Then we’re planning Boytsov’s fight in Moscow, Russia, this June”, said Sauerland to TASS.

Manuel Charr, 30, was last seen in the ring on Oct. 24 in Moscow, stopping American veteran Michael Grant within five rounds, his first appearance since being brutally knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in late May. Boytsov, 29, is 2-0 since losing in the WBO heavyweight elimination fight to Alex Leapai.
