Showtime recently announced a series of upcoming fights including the June 24th showdown pitting WBC interim middleweight champion Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames against former unified junior middleweight champion Julian “J Rock” Williams. The fight is slated to headline a triple-header that will take place at the new boxing hotbed, The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Dominican Republic native is the mandatory challenger for Jermall Charlo’s WBC middleweight title and hopes that a victory over Williams will lead him to the long awaited showdown.

“I’ve wanted that fight for a long time.  Like I’ve said many times, I will fight any top guy at 160 or 168 pounds.  The question is if they will fight me,” Adames told BoxingScene.com.

After dropping back-to-back fights, Williams picked up a much needed victory in November over Rolando Wenceslao Mansilla.

Adames has won 4 fights in a row since suffering his only career loss against Patrick Teixeira in 2019.

He has really impressed in his past two fights, beating former title challengers Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Juan Macias Montiel. Both fighters are normally tough outs and don’t exactly have fighters lining up to face them.

“Adames has beat some very tough fighters. We’ve seen what Derevyanchenko did to Golovkin and Montiel to Jermall Charlo. Nobody wants to fight those guys,” Adames’ trainer Bob Santos told BoxingScene.com.

“He beats every middleweight out there and just wait until you see what he can do at 168 pounds. He will be even stronger.”

Santos growing stable of fighters also includes Hector Luis Garcia, Alberto Puello, Erick “Mini-Pacman” Rosa, Lenier and Dainier Pero, Amilcar Vidal, Thomas Dulorme and Victor Santillan, among others.
