Two weeks ago, Jake Paul (3-0 3 KOs) continued his progression in the sport of boxing. However, there are still several skeptics who don’t believe the Youtube star has a future in the sport.

In the third bout of his career, he viciously dropped former mixed martial arts champion Ben Askren in the first round. A big right hand sent Askren crashing to the canvas and he was unable to recover.

The bout topped the second pay-per-view event for the upstart streaming service Triller. Their foray into the boxing world began on November 28th when Mike Tyson and Roy Jones battled to a draw in a heavyweight exhibition match.

Before the fight Paul’s trainer told BoxingScene.com that he wouldn’t be surprised if Askren didn’t make it out of the first round round. The former cruiserweight title challenger’s premonition proved to be true and he believes the best is yet to come for the 24-year-old Paul.

“Jake didn't even get warmed up. All the expert talk from the people around Askren like Freddie Roach, K9 (Cornelius Bundrage), Tyrone Woodley - means nothing.  They said, ‘Ben is the toughest guy. Jake has no chance to knock him out.  Jake is a YouTuber.’  Blah, blah, blah,” Flores told BoxingScene.com.

“People have no idea. This is just the beginning. MMA guys like Dana White and Daniel Cormier don't know sh!t about boxing. Stay in your lane.”

Paul’s previous ring appearances came in a supporting role. Saturday night’s event in Atlanta was his first time appearing in the main event.

According to Flores, the multitude of Paul’s events will just continue to grow.

“Ben never had a chance. It was a good, easy tuneup for Jake fighting an 8 round main event on the biggest platform in boxing. The sky is the limit,” said Flores.
