Another Filipino underdog will fight on a Top Rank closed door event, at the MGM Grand's Conference Center in Las Vegas on July 2.

After countryman Mike Plania’s sensational win over Joshua Greer, Mark Bernaldez (20-3, 14 KOs) will face an undefeated foe in heavily favored Albert Bell (16-0, 5 KOs).

Bernaldez aims to copy the recent success of fellow Filipino Plania, who last week pulled off a shocker over the WBO's mandatory bantamweight challenger, Joshua Greer.

Bernaldez was motivated by Plania's performance and wants to show the world what he is made of. The fight will be televised by ESPN.

“Just like Mike (Plania) I am entering the ring as the underdog and maybe an acid test fight for their undefeated prospect. However that is also the way I see him - another stepping stone for bigger fights in the future. I will do everything to take home the win”, Bernaldez stated.

Plania (24-1, 12 KO`s) scored one of the most important victories of his career, defeating Greer Jr. (22-2-2, 12 KO’s) by majority decision in a fight that headlined a card broadcast on ESPN.

It was the main bout for Top Rank's card from last Tuesday night at the MGM's Conference Center.

Plania twice sent Greer to the canvas, at the end of the first round and the second time in the sixth, with left hooks to the head.

This allowed him to clearly prevail on two of the three official cards from the judges: 96-92 and 97-91, while the third scored it a 94-94 draw.

Greer closed the bout strongly but it was not enough to get the victory against a Filipino fighter, who looked exhausted at the end but showed great heart to break Greer’s 19-fight win streak.
