Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has two fighters with looming business in the ring with the WBC, and he wants to bring the action together all under one roof.

Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com that he wants to stage a WBC world title doubleheader for super middleweight champion David Benavidez’s first title defense against Avni Yildirim, as well as Javier Fortuna’s clash versus Luke Campbell to determine the Recess lightweight champion for the belt vacated by Devin Haney earlier this week following shoulder surgery.

Lewkowicz said the fights will take place in either February or March of 2020. Benavidez and Fortuna are both signed with PBC and are the top two fighters under the Sampson Boxing promotional banner.

Lewkowicz said he’s planning to make a competitive offer against Matchroom Boxing, Campbell’s promoter, to stage the doubleheader on a PBC platform.

If Matchroom, who also promotes Haney, is awarded the Fortuna-Campbell fight, a seperate card will take place on DAZN, and the doubleheader will be nixed together.
